Passionately devoted to reviving the lost art of Coromandel, we recreate its legendary textiles with dedication and an unwavering pursuit of mastery — timeless, authentic, and true to their origins.
At Aksh, we are passionate about reviving and reinterpreting the historic textiles of the Coromandel Coast with a focus on traditional techniques, natural dyes, and heirloom-quality craftsmanship. Founded to preserve the region’s rich artistic heritage, our studio celebrates the legacy of hand-painted and resist-dyed textiles from this historic trade route.
Our journey, which began in 2012 as a humble documentation project on Deccan and South Indian weaves, has grown into a design studio recreating the grandeur of legendary Coromandel textiles—sarees, garments, and wall art panels. Inspired by ancient traditions like mordant printing, resist dyeing, and Kalamkari, we meticulously craft most surface embellishments in-house, blending artistry with authenticity.

Kalamkari painting combined with resist dyeing, a complex, laborious, and time-consuming technique, is the original craft that made Coromandel textiles so iconic and sought after.
Our craft mastery includes printing mordants onto fabric, skill fully creating intricate patterns that bring natural dyes to life in vibrant, enduring designs
Natural dyeing, a cornerstone of Coromandel’s textile legacy, harnesses the region’s unique ability to produce vibrant, richly coloured cotton textiles.
We weave our own textiles on our looms, from the base materials for printing to the intricate Jamdani grounds from Kodalikaruppur, ensuring authenticity and craftsmanship in every piece.
